About us

Founded in 2024 by Dr. Nenad and Jasminka Paunovic, Coquitlam Dog Grooming proudly serves the Tri-City community with expert grooming services in a welcoming, pet-friendly environment. This new venture comes on the heels of the successful grand reopening of Coquitlam Animal Hospital at its modernized location, where the team continues to provide high-quality care. Coquitlam Dog Grooming now operates from the previous Coquitlam Animal Hospital location at 105-1001 Austin Ave, Coquitlam.

With over 20 years of experience in animal healthcare, Dr. Paunovic, Jasminka, and our skilled team of dedicated stylists are passionate about caring for pets of all shapes and sizes. From playful puppies to seasoned seniors, we offer high-quality grooming tailored to each pet’s needs—keeping every muddy paw and messy coat in check, no matter the “Raincouver” weather! Each of our stylists is highly trained, certified in pet first aid, and committed to making sure every dog leaves looking sharp, comfortable, and happy.

After all, a good-looking pet makes a good-looking owner!

A Few Important notes

At our grooming salon, your dog’s comfort and well-being are our top priorities, which is why we don’t attempt to de-mat severely matted coats. Trying to brush out severe matting is not only painful but can also cause skin irritation, cuts, and even bruising. Shaving the coat is the safest and most humane option in these cases. By removing the mats completely, we can prevent any further discomfort and allow your dog’s coat to grow back healthy and strong. We’re committed to providing gentle, compassionate care, and shaving helps us ensure that every dog leaves our salon feeling their best.

For dogs who experience high levels of stress during grooming, we recommend speaking to a veterinarian about a prescription for gabapentin, possibly combined with trazodone, to help ease their anxiety. These medications can make the grooming experience less stressful and more comfortable for both the pet and the groomer. If your dog becomes very anxious during grooming, please discuss these options with your veterinarian. For clients who don’t currently have a regular veterinarian, we’d be happy to refer you to a trusted professional at the Coquitlam Animal Hospital.

While we do everything possible to work compassionately with anxious and nervous dogs, there are times when a dog’s level of aggression makes grooming unsafe for both the dog and our staff. In these cases, we may need to decline grooming services to ensure the safety and well-being of everyone involved. Thank you for your understanding as we strive to provide a safe and comfortable environment for all pets in our care.

We work hard to ensure each pet receives the time and care they deserve during their appointment. To maintain our schedule and provide the best service possible, we have a cancellation policy that requires at least 24 hours’ notice. This policy allows us to offer the appointment to another client who may be waiting. No-shows or last-minute cancellations make it difficult for us to plan effectively, and as a result, we do charge a no-show fee of $30 CAD.

This fee helps cover the time our groomers set aside for your pet and ensures we can continue to serve our clients reliably. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in helping us maintain a smooth and efficient service for everyone.
